Oakley City Council Appoints New Planning Commissioners

Sean Ireland and Pierre Goudie Join Leonard Price on the Planning Commission

The Oakley City Council has appointed Sean Ireland and Pierre Goudie to the Planning Commission, alongside the reappointment of Leonard Price.

These appointments were finalized during the council meeting on September 23, 2025.

Their four-year terms will commence on October 12, 2025, and conclude on October 11, 2029.

They will succeed current Planning Commission Chair Diego Verduzco and Commissioner Oleksii Chuiko, whose terms are set to expire.

Earlier this year, on January 28, the council appointed Yared Oliveros and Kerry Harvey to two-year terms on the commission.

With these recent appointments, the Planning Commission now comprises four new members, with Leonard Price continuing his service from the previous commission.

The Planning Commission plays a pivotal role in shaping Oakley's future by overseeing land use entitlements, including tentative parcel maps, conditional use permits, and design reviews.

Regular meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Additional meetings may be convened on the third Tuesday if necessary.

In other developments, Oakley is advancing several significant projects.

The city has approved a master plan for a 55-acre regional park, estimated to cost $128 million.

This ambitious project aims to enhance community recreation and access to the Delta waterfront.

Additionally, the construction of a new Amtrak station is underway, with completion expected in August 2025.

This station will improve transportation options and connectivity for Oakley residents.

These initiatives reflect Oakley's commitment to growth and development, with the Planning Commission playing a crucial role in guiding these efforts.

Residents are encouraged to participate in public hearings and stay informed about ongoing projects that shape the city's future.
