Remembering Rubiano’s: A Downtown Brentwood Restaurant That Became Part of the Community
After seven years of serving Italian comfort food, family dinners, and local memories, Rubiano’s closes its doors while leaving a lasting mark on downtown Brentwood.
For many residents in Brentwood, Rubiano's was more than just a neighborhood Italian restaurant — it was a familiar gathering place for family dinners, celebrations, pizza nights, and casual evenings downtown. After seven years serving the community, the restaurant officially closed its doors in May 2026, marking the end of a chapter for one of downtown Brentwood’s longtime locally owned dining spots.
Known for its pizzas, pastas, wings, and family-friendly atmosphere, Rubiano’s built a loyal following by offering approachable Italian-American comfort food in a relaxed setting. Whether families were sharing large pasta plates, picking up takeout after a busy day, or meeting friends downtown, the restaurant became part of the routine for many East County residents.
Owners Ruben and Teresa Da Silva originally opened Rubiano’s in San Leandro before bringing the concept to Brentwood in 2019 during the city’s downtown revitalization efforts. According to local business profiles, they quickly embraced the community and focused on creating a welcoming space that felt affordable, casual, and family-oriented.
Like many small businesses, Rubiano’s faced significant challenges over the years, including the pandemic and unexpected flooding damage in 2024. Still, the restaurant continued adapting through takeout service, family meal options, special promotions, and community events. Support from local residents helped the business navigate difficult periods and maintain its place as a recognizable downtown staple.
In announcing the closure, the Rubiano’s family shared a heartfelt message thanking the Brentwood community for years of support, memories, and connection. Their statement reflected how much the restaurant had become intertwined with the people who visited regularly and celebrated milestones there over the years.
The closing of Rubiano’s serves as another reminder of how much locally owned restaurants contribute to the identity of a community. Beyond the food itself, places like Rubiano’s become gathering spots where families reconnect, friendships grow, and local traditions quietly take shape over time.
While the doors may now be closed, many Brentwood residents will likely remember Rubiano’s as one of those neighborhood restaurants that helped define downtown dining for a generation of local families.
