Ojala Family Pet Care: A New Chapter in Oakley's Veterinary Services |
Siblings Austin and Alexa Ojala bring compassionate, community-focused animal care to their hometown |
In the heart of Oakley, California, a new beacon of hope for pet owners has emerged: Ojala Family Pet Care.
Founded by siblings Dr. Austin Ojala and Alexa Ojala, this veterinary hospital embodies a deep-rooted commitment to the community and its beloved animals.
Dr. Austin's journey to veterinary medicine was inspired by a childhood surrounded by a diverse array of animals, from dogs and cats to goats and reptiles.
His personal experiences, particularly with his pot-bellied pig, Sally, and Nigerian dwarf goat, Scotty, highlighted the scarcity of local veterinary services for farm animals.
These challenges fueled his determination to offer comprehensive care to a wide range of species.
Ojala Family Pet Care now provides services for dogs, cats, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, llamas, alpacas, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals.
Dr. Austin emphasizes the importance of personalized care, stating, "I love that every day is different, and I love knowing I can give families more time with their pets—whether they're furry, scaly, or somewhere in between."
His sister, Alexa, transitioned from managing a grooming business to co-founding the clinic.
She reflects on the journey: "It took us about a year and a half. There were a lot of late nights, stress, and challenges, but it was worth it."
Their shared goal is to provide not only veterinary services but also reassurance and support for pet owners.
"We want clients to know we're here for them every step of the way," Alexa affirms.
Finding the right location was crucial.
They discovered an ideal spot at the Big Break Marina.
Despite the building's need for renovation, they saw its potential.
Dr. Austin notes, "The building was older and needed work, but it was just right for us."
The clinic's secluded setting allows for outdoor examinations, reducing stress for both animals and owners.
Dr. Austin shares, "We just had a 120 lb. dog that is fearful of the vet; we were able to get it done outside on the grass overlooking the delta without any issues."
Since opening, Ojala Family Pet Care has partnered with local rescue organizations and plans to expand its services.
Dr. Austin aims to preserve a personal, community-based feel in an industry increasingly dominated by corporate practices.
"We want to bring back that small-town vibe," he asserts.
They also offer on-site veterinary services for a wide range of livestock.
