How Antioch Riders Can Simplify Transit With BART and Tri Delta

Official trip tools from Antioch BART and Tri Delta Transit make everyday planning more workable for East County commuters.

Getting from Antioch to Oakland or San Francisco by public transit means combining two systems. BART runs the regional trains from the Antioch station, and Tri Delta Transit handles the local bus connections that get riders to and from the platform.

For most Antioch residents, the trip starts with a Tri Delta bus. The agency runs several routes that connect directly to Antioch BART, including the 361, 371, 373, 375, 376, and 377. Riders can check schedules and real-time arrivals on the Tri Delta Transit website or app before leaving home.

Once at the station, BART handles the longer leg. The Antioch line runs through Pittsburg, Bay Point, and Concord before connecting to the main system at MacArthur. From there, riders can transfer to lines heading to Oakland, San Francisco, or the Peninsula.

The practical challenge is timing. BART trains run on fixed schedules, but Tri Delta buses have less frequent service, especially in the early morning and evening. Riders who plan the connection the night before rather than checking at the bus stop tend to have fewer missed transfers and shorter waits.

For commuters who have tried driving and found the cost or traffic unsustainable, the BART-plus-bus combination is the main public transit option available in East County. It is not perfect, but it is usable once riders figure out the connection points and build a routine around the schedules.
