Construction has commenced on the long-anticipated Fire Station 94, located at 739 First Street in downtown Brentwood.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for September 8 at 11 a.m., marking a significant milestone in the city's commitment to public safety.
Contra Costa Fire Protection District emphasized the station's importance, stating, "This vital project will bolster public safety and improve emergency response times for the community."
They also expressed gratitude for residents' patience during the construction period.
Construction activities are planned for weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with completion anticipated by the end of next year.
The new two-story brick building will feature traditional American Main Street architecture, paying homage to Brentwood's rich history and the legacy of its volunteer firefighters.
Fire Station 94's location holds historical significance, as the site has been home to fire services for nearly a century.
After the original station closed in 2014 due to financial constraints, the community has eagerly awaited the return of a fire station to downtown.
In addition to enhancing emergency response capabilities, the station's construction reflects Brentwood's ongoing development.
Recent projects include the revitalization of The Streets of Brentwood, where new retailers like Barnes & Noble and Dutch Bros Coffee have opened, and the grand opening of a new Costco at the Innovation Center @ Brentwood.
These developments underscore the city's commitment to growth and community engagement.
Residents are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony to learn more about Fire Station 94 and its role in enhancing public safety in Brentwood. |
