Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 11, 2025, as Antioch hosts the 37th Annual Kids Fishing Derby from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Waldie Plaza and the Antioch Public Fishing Pier.
This beloved event pays tribute to the late Antioch resident 'Compy' Compomizzo, whose mission was to "Get kids hooked on fishing, not drugs or gangs."
Children aged 15 and under are invited to learn about conservation and engage in friendly fishing competition, potentially sparking a lifelong passion for the sport.
Registration is available on the day of the event, offering an exciting morning filled with memorable catches.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles.
For those without equipment, a limited number of rods and reels will be available to borrow.
This event is made possible through the partnership between the California Striped Bass Association, West Delta Chapter, and the City of Antioch Recreation Department.
Established in 1974, the California Striped Bass Association is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of striped bass populations.
